This Eco-friendly bag can help empower women in villages!

Shanti Hastkala (SHK) began to work with local women. They set up training programs where village women were trained in skills like stitching, embroidery, paper craft, hand-rolled incense making, jams, pickles, pulp, dehydration of fruits and more. With the help of SHK volunteers, the women began to make clothes, bags and embroidered items that now sell in the USA, Australia and all over India!

The ban on plastics in the state of Maharashtra has given them a golden opportunity to showcase their creativity and commitment to the environment.
SHK has branched out to making shopping bags out of pure cotton instead of the plastic materials that people generally use. These bags have 7 compartments. When used regularly, these cotton bags will replace around 7 plastic bags per shopping trip. Thereby saving 700 plastic bags per person a year on average.

The bag is made up of canvas fabric, a natural fibre that is more durable than plastic. It is environment friendly and is created using cotton, flax & hemp plants that can be grown easily without harming the environment.
SHK has kept the end user in mind while designing this bag. The inside has unique compartments to organise grocery and even grains. No more mess after a long day of grocery shopping!
The beautifully embroidered bag creates a chain of social good that starts from the women who made it to the consumer who will use to reduce their carbon footprint in this world.

They are available in the dimensions 18 x 15 x 8 inches.
